Amman, Jordan

Amman is where many Jordan shoots begin. The capital rises across hills of pale local stone, with the glass towers and modern districts of Abdali on one side and Al-Balad's markets, souks, Roman Theatre, and old downtown streets on another. Above sits the Citadel on Jabal Al-Qal'a, while the wider city offers stairways, alleys, rooftops with long views, boutique and five-star hotels, interiors, and a food culture that gives Amman a lived-in Jordanian character. For production, Amman can read modern, historic, local, or everyday, depending on the brief. It works across commercials, fashion, lifestyle, hospitality, and branded films, while keeping the core production layer close: Queen Alia International Airport, crew, suppliers, studios, hotels, casting, and city logistics. It also sits within practical reach of the Dead Sea and Jerash, making it a strong base for schedules combining city work with outdoor locations over multiple days.

Wadi Rum, Jordan

Wadi Rum is one of Jordan's most powerful filming locations: red sand, sandstone mountains, vast horizons, and the Valley of the Moon. On camera, it can read ancient, futuristic, or otherworldly, often doubling for Mars and distant planets. It suits science-fiction, epic-scale films, automotive, fashion, editorial, music videos, and high-impact campaigns. Major productions filmed here include Lawrence of Arabia, Dune, and The Martian. The reserve holds many looks, from untouched sand, high mountains, canyons, and rock bridges deep inside, to more accessible desert camps, the historic Hejaz Railway, and domes or bubble tents near the edges for smaller lifestyle, travel, and campaign shoots. Bedouin guides and local support teams know the desert closely and support access, guiding, and on-ground coordination. At magic hour, the mountains and red sand shift into one of Jordan's strongest cinematic looks. Wadi Rum pairs naturally with Aqaba, about an hour south. Crews can stay in desert camps, or some or all of the team can be based in Aqaba's hotels. As a protected reserve, Wadi Rum needs access, movement, approvals, and unit support planned early, including 4x4 movement, base camp, generators, water, communications, drone approvals through the RFC, and ASEZA involvement where required.

Jerash and Ajloun, Jordan

North of Amman, Jerash and Ajloun give a production of two worlds within one northern loop. Jerash is one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the region, with colonnaded streets, temples, two theatres, the Oval Plaza, and Hadrian's Arch standing largely intact, so it can read as a living ancient city rather than a ruin. Around it, the landscape shifts into green country: mountains, pine forest, farming villages, the old town and souk of Jerash, and the King Talal Dam with its wooded shoreline. A short drive on, Ajloun brings green hills, pine and oak forest, olive groves, and a 12th-century hilltop castle looking over the Jordan Valley. The area also has a cable car over forested valleys, marked hiking and trekking trails, and the RSCN Ajloun Forest Reserve, with wooden eco-cabins set among the trees and local craft traditions, from handmade olive-oil soap to baked goods and village products made on site. It is the cooler, forested side of Jordan, strong for historical, nature, lifestyle, adventure, documentary, fashion, and local hospitality work. Together, Jerash and Ajloun let a shoot move from Roman city to green highland forest, castle, villages, water, trails, and camps within the same schedule, all from an Amman base. Access to Jerash archaeological park, Ajloun castle, and RSCN reserve areas is planned in advance through the RFC and relevant site authorities. Spring and autumn are the strongest green seasons for exterior and nature work.

Wadi Araba

The long rift valley running south from the Dead Sea toward Aqaba: coloured mountains, open plains, and vast dry emptiness. Stark and cinematic, it suits otherworldly briefs, sci-fi, epic scale, automotive, and work needing untouched open desert.

Production Note: Open and remote, so productions run self-sufficient with 4x4 access, water, and power. Crews can base from Aqaba, Wadi Musa, or Amman depending on the shoot point.

Black Desert

The Black Desert is Jordan's volcanic basalt landscape in the northeast, with dark boulder fields and black stone stretching toward the horizon around Azraq and Mafraq. Bleak and otherworldly, it suits post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, and high-contrast visual work.

Production Note: Remote terrain, so full shoot days need 4x4 access, self-sufficient units, water, power, and medical support planning. Crews usually base back in Amman, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours west.

White Desert (Wadi Al-Dahek)

Near the Saudi border beyond Azraq, Wadi Al-Dahek brings chalk-white limestone cliffs against surrounding black basalt, wind-sculpted ground, and ancient marine fossils. It is one of Jordan's most distinctive lesser-filmed landscapes, strong for otherworldly, sci-fi, and high-end visual work.

Production Note: Remote desert work, planned fully self-sufficient with 4x4 access, generators, water, and medical support planning. Crews usually return to Amman, around 200 km away, for accommodation.

Dana Biosphere Reserve, Jordan

Dana is one of Jordan's strongest natural filming locations: rocky mountains, deep valleys, cliffs, hiking trails, the old stone village of Dana, and wide views toward Wadi Araba. Its stone character can feel close to Petra, but quieter and wilder, with a protected landscape, eco-lodges, and a slower southern Jordan atmosphere. It suits documentaries, nature and conservation content, travel films, hiking and outdoor campaigns, fashion, editorial, and small to mid-size crews needing mountains, valleys, and natural light. Dana is best planned as a protected mountain and village location, not a large hotel base. Local guesthouses, eco-lodges, and campsites support the shoot, while Wadi Musa and Petra hotels can work for VIPs or select crew when Dana accommodation is tight. Route planning, guide coordination, vehicle access, and RSCN approvals should be confirmed before locking the location.
